Running has become increasingly popular over the last decade with more races popping up around the country every year. It doesn’t matter if you’re doing a 5k or the London Marathon, whether you want a personal best or whether you just want to make it round in one piece, preparation is key.
This workshop aims to help you do this. By covering six key subject areas we will give you a comprehensive overview of what it takes to help you compete to your optimum level.
What will we cover?
The six key topics that we will cover are:
– Pre and post training/race nutrition – what and when to eat to fuel and recover from your run or race.
– Hydration – how much should you be drinking and when should you start hydrating.
– Warm up – the most effective way to warm up the main muscle groups used when running.
– Running efficiency – looking at improving your movement economy enabling you to get the most from every step.
– Strength training for runners – why it’s vital to include weight training in your programme and what are the best exercises to do.
– Recovery strategies – learn the best ways to recover after a run so you can perform to your best the next time around.
